Redline Communications has secured a contract to double the size of a wireless network to help automate operations at an oil field in Argentina. The network will provide the remote monitoring of well heads and collection and separation facilities in addition to being able to carry voice, data and video traffic.

Venture capital funding in 2014 for smart grid companies saw a decline in overall levels compared to 2013, according to Mercom Capital Group. The company says 2014 VC funding came in at $383 million, down slighting from the 2014 figure of $410 million.

Redline Communications Group Inc. is bringing automation to hundreds of oil fields in the Middle East, the Toronto-based company announced last week. The firm said it inked a $2.6 million contract with one of the region’s largest oil producers.
