Natural Resources Canada has awarded CO2 Solutions Inc. an additional $350,000 in funding to continue testing its novel enzymatic carbon capture process. The money, which comes from the department’s ecoENERGY Innovation Initiative, will give the Quebec City-based company additional resources to conduct further testing of its process with a rotating packed bed (RPB) technology from GasTrans Systems.
CO2 Solutions Inc. has taken yet another step closer to commercially rolling out its innovative enzyme-based carbon capture process. The Quebec City-based company announced this week that it had completed the technology demonstration at its Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It’s located near Montreal.
Technologies exist today that can easily and substantially cut the amount of methane emissions from Canada’s oil and gas sector, a new report from ICF International says. The analysis, commissioned by the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and the Pembina Institute, argues emissions could be chopped by 45% by 2020 with an investment of $726 million or about 1% of the oil and gas industry’s annual capital expenditures.
CarbonCure Technologies Inc., a company that recycles CO2 and injects into concrete, has secured $3 million in a Series C financing round led by Pangaea Ventures, a Vancouver-based venture capital firm.
CO2 Solutions Inc. is shifting its carbon capture demonstration with Husky Energy into high gear. After getting results from the US Department of Energy’s Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC), which show its enzyme-based approach is economically viable, the Quebec City-based firm has decided its pilot plant will move much quicker to commercial scale.
