Energate Inc. is making it easier for Ontario homeowners to reduce their energy usage. The Ottawa-based company unveiled its Consumer Engagement for the Smart Grid program last week with the Minister of Energy Bob Chiarelli in attendance.
Energate Inc. is gaining another path to market for its consumer demand response solution following an agreement the Ottawa-based company inked with GE earlier this month.
GE and Google inked an agreement last month that will see the two companies collaborate on a smart grid application. By integrating Google Maps data into GE's Smallworld electrical, telecommunications and gas applications, utilities will be able to improve productivity.
The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) in Ontario has awarded IBM Canada Ltd. a five-year $68.5 million contract to enhance and improve the meter data management and repository (MDM/R) system. The upgrades will give the IESO the tools it needs to grow as more data floods its systems from smart meters.
