A new paper released by Conservative think tank Canada 2020 last week says that a $40 per tonne carbon tax – rising annually by $1 to the middle of the century – could achieve a 20% reduction in Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions and have very little impact on Canadians’ pocketbooks.

Last week, George Brown College opened its Green Building Centre, a facility that will train students in advanced construction, green energy and energy efficient buildings. The centre will also provide workspace to industry partners to showcase environmentally responsible and resource-efficient practices.

The Power Workers’ Union (PWU) is urging the Ontario government to reject recommendations from the Premier’s Advisory Council on Government Assets calling for the sale of certain parts of Hydro One.

A study by Health Canada and Statistics Canada on the health impacts of wind turbine noise (WTN) has concluded that it doesn’t contribute to sleep deprivation, headaches, dizziness, more stress and a reduced quality of life. The study says, however, that people living in proximity to the turbines are annoyed at their presence.

Power Advisory didn’t use the word flawed in its analysis of a recent Fraser Institute report that blamed increases in wind energy for rising electricity prices in Ontario, but that’s essentially what the consulting firm said in its reply to What Goes Up: Ontario’s Soaring Electricity Prices and How to Get Them Down.
