The US Patent and Trademark Office has provided CO2 Solutions Inc. a notice of allowance regarding a patent application for the use of carbonic anhydrase in carbon capture.

CO2 Solutions Inc. has inked an agreement to provide Norwegian international energy company Statoil with data and reports from its Alberta oil sands carbon capture project. The value of the contract is not being disclosed.

Alberta’s carbon intense economy is looking for things to do with its carbon emissions. The province’s Climate Change and Emissions Management Corp. (CCEMC) has launched a plan to spend upwards of $35 million on companies with innovative carbon usage ideas.

The CO2 Capture Project (CCP) has tapped CO2 Solutions Inc. for a contract providing data and reports from its pre-pilot phase carbon capture project in the Alberta oil sands.

CO2 Solutions Inc. is going to receive $4.7 million from the federal government under the ecoENERGY Innovation Initiative to support the development its carbon capture technology for use in Alberta’s oil sands.
