Enerkem Inc. inked two deals that show the Montreal-based company is making considerable strides in China. The first one is a memorandum of understand with Shanghai Environmental Group Co. Ltd. The second is an agreement to establish a partnership with Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute (SMDERI). Both deals are to develop waste-to-biofuels facilities in the country.

Methes Energies International Ltd., a biodiesel producer with a plant in Sarnia ON, has shipped about 500,000 gallons of the clean fuel to clients since September 1 or about 22 railcars full. For the rest of the year, however, the company won’t ink supply contracts.
