CO2 Solutions Inc. continues to solidify its IP strategy. Last week, the Quebec City-based company was awarded a patent by the US Patent Office. Titled, Process for CO2 capture using Carbonates and Biocatalysts with Absorption of CO2 and Desorption of Ion-rich Solution, it adds to the firm’s already broad coverage for enzyme accelerated carbonate-based solvent processes for carbon capture.

Carbon capture testing between CO2 Solutions Inc. and Neumann Systems Group Inc. (NSG) has produced better than expected results and now the two companies have decided to accelerate the deployment of a pilot facility.

An investment of up to $18 million in reducing water use and greenhouse gas emissions in the oil sands could result from two agreement signed by GE and Suncor Energy. Announced this week, the deals also involve other members of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA).
