Smartcool Systems Inc. is now selling power metering sensors after signing a value added reseller agreement (VAR) with Panoramic Power Ltd. The sensors provide device level consumption data, are self powered, inexpensive, easy to install and link to a web-based dashboard where users can monitor power consumption.

Ted Konyi, chief executive at Smartcool, spoke about how the company became familiar with Panoramic’s technology. A client in Warrington UK that has Smartcool systems installed on chillers and heat pumps also has Panoramic devices monitoring equipment performance. Measurements showed energy savings averaged more than 20%, with some readings showing close to 40% reduction.

“The ability to isolate the compressors being affected by Smartcool's technology provided conclusive evidence of the effectiveness and is leading to a rollout of other Smartcool installations. This has been a tremendous tool to confirm the efficacy of the Smartcool product, which in many cases is difficult, given that most commercial users only see total power consumption,” he said.

Smartcool believes that many of its clients and distributors will be interested in using the technology far beyond simply verifying the efficacy of Smartcool technology. The company is already receiving purchase orders for Panoramic systems and looks forward to growing this exciting new complimentary business.
