A province-led approach to carbon pricing in Canada is not only practical and cost-effective, it’s uniquely Canadian, argued Chris Ragan, chair of the Ecofiscal Commission, this week in opening remarks to a Sustainable Prosperity panel on carbon pricing in Ontario. “The provincial approach the Ecofiscal Commission recommends shouldn’t really be surprising at all once you really think about it. It’s about as Canadian as a toque in January,” he said.
